4th meeting of Yemen's accession to WTO held in Geneva

GENEVA,  (Saba)- Yemen negotiations team of accession to World Trade Organization (WTO) held its fourth meeting in Geneva on Saturday.

The meeting focused on development of the bilateral and multiparty negotiations between Yemen and the WTO members as well as achievements realized by Yemen.

In his speech, Minister of Industry and Trade Yahya al-Mutawakil reviewed democratic and economic development in Yemen during the past period, affirming concern of Yemen to response to prerequisites of the accession by 2008 and wished to get membership by 2009.

He renewed commitment of Yemen to liberate economy in accordance with the financial and developmental WTO requirements, aspiring further support from the WTO members.

Al-Mutawakil pointed out to the ratification of Parliament of the Paris and Berne conventions over intellectual property.

The meeting resulted in holding fifth meeting of the team by the first half of 2009.
