President: Yemeni people decline all forms of violence
[16/October/2007]

ADEN,  (Saba)- President Ali Abdullah Saleh has affirmed that the Yemeni people always say no to violence with its various forms, signaling that there are peaceful ways to express your opinion such as press, the parliament, the state's different institutions and pacific demonstrations instead of resorting to violent acts.

Speaking to personnel of the Southern Military Region in Aden on Tuesday, president Saleh congratulated them on the 44th Anniversary of October 14, 1967 as well as Eid al-Fitr.

He attributed peace and security of the country to the military institution personnel who dedicate their lives and efforts for this crucial purpose to serve development and progress in the nation.

President urged security apparatuses and military institution not to be drafted by plans of opponents of the country and development, warning against erupting such the latest acts which aimed at destabilizing the country.

"Unfortunately, what has happened in al-Habilein district and Parade Ground in Aden and al-Dal'e governorates should not be take place again and security apparatuses should stay wise."

We anticipate a good sign from those who ask for resolving issues of illegally retired officers after 1994 civil war and lands distribution which indicates a return to together-work for the one-united country, saleh noted.

He confirmed that 96 per cent of military pensioners' issues were settled and the period since then up to now has been taken into considerations in terms of reparations and promotion.

Concluding his speech, president Saleh cordially greeted the military institution and security staff across the country for their unabated sacrifice for the country.
