President highlights role of local councils in development path

SANA'A, (Saba)- President Ali Abdullah Saleh confirmed Friday the significance of local councils' role in drawing out development plans and executing them as projects that serve the nation, referring to success of these councils at the level of local development.

In a visit to districts of Khadir and Haifan of Taiz, aimed to familiarize himself with implementation works of service and development projects, he underlined that the near future would see further expansion of privileges given to local councils within the framework of the new move to local governing to embody the financial and administrative decentralization.

Saleh also listened to demands and aspirations of the two districts locals, promising he would spare no effort in meeting development needs awaited in the two districts.

On the other hand, he also visited al-Saqi'e Dam where got acquainted with rainwater storage, stressing the importance of building more dams and water barriers for best use of stored water.
