Sweden supports joining Yemen to WTO

STOCKHOLM, Sept. 26 (Saba) - Swedish government expressed on Wednesday its readiness to offer all the required assistance to support Yemeni endeavor to join the World Trade Organization (WTO).

On the sidelines of his participation in Integrated Framework for Trade Conference in Stockholm, minister of industry and trade Yahya al-Mutawakil held talks with the two Swedish ministers of foreign trade Ewa Bjoerling and for Development Aid Gunilla Carlsson who praised Yemen's efforts to merge into the regional and international economic, which is, as they said, a proper way to enhance the development process in Yemen.

Al-Mutawakil briefed the Swedish ministers on affirmative results of the comprehensive reforms Yemen has implemented since 1995 to be competent to join the WTO, noting to the government efforts to improve the administration and develop the government purchases system as well as establishing a supreme national committee to combat corruption.

The meeting dealt with the aids provided for Yemen from Sweden, as a key donor country, in the field of economic development.

Al-Mutawakil indicated to the improvement Yemen witnesses in investment area, affirming that the government spare no efforts to provide an attractive investment environment.
