Yemen, IFAD sign $16 mln agreement

ROME,  (Saba)- Yemen and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) signed on Friday a support agreement of $16 million to manage running Rainfed Farming Project in the country.

The agreement was signed by Minister of Planning and International Development Abdul-Karim al-Arhabi and IFAD's officer of rainfed farming for the Middle East Abdullah Rahman.

Planning minister told Saba that this support would boost Yemen efforts to utilize modern irrigation means to minimize the loss of water.

He lauded the fund for its unabated role in promulgating awareness of preserving water resources by means of using economical irrigation techniques, affirming Yemen's keenness to make best use of rainfed farming.
