Rally for presidential candidate Yassin Noaman in Ibb
[05 September 2006]

IBB, Sept. 05(Saba)- An electoral rally for the presidential candidate of the National Opposition Councils organized on Tuesday in
the governorateof Ibb, 180km southern the capital Sana'a.

In his electioneering, the candidate said" As we stage this electoral rally here in the governorate of Ibb, this kind province and its good and free people, we have to differentiate during the electoral campaign between two basic issues.. We must differentiate between the
changeable and unchangeable, the election contest is within the variables, in the course of drawing the political and economical
programs and putting them in place, but there is the basic issues that all Yemenis had unanimously agreed upon and adopted an existing
political system embodied in the unity, democracy, and political pluralism.

We are fighting in these elections and explaining our platforms that aim to bring up the changes in the government through the executive authority, and not in the system's
nature, but there is some people who are seeking for or aiming to lead to political coup in the existing political regime in the
republic of Yemen, he said.

He went on to say " It is not possible for any person or group or political bloc to choose a path rather than the one that people had
approved willingly and freely through the political system in which they compete according to the programs and not according to breaking down the existed system and stage a revolutionary regime.

Democracy isn't an entrance to change the system's identity or to devastate the pillars of the existing system that our people adopted,
but it is rather a competitive means in presenting the political and economical programs that serve the society and help
developing it, he said.

"These who are seeking for what they call it the political reform proposal through a political coup didn't actually suggest an
economical or social vision that serves the peoples interests, but they want through democracy to pounce upon the regime and coming back to the totalitarianism and creating the so-called despotic democracy, that is a way rejected by our people,"he said.

"Democracy doesn't mean to destruct every thing in existence , that isn't a way for the opposition, but it is rather a manner for
destruction and not for construction, it is a way for swooping on the revolution, democracy and unity", he added.

The candidate elaborated saying" The one who disgraces everything, he absolutely can't achieve anything. We do say that there are many
positive things had been achieved in this country, and there are great strides had been made since the unity on May 22,1990, however,
there are imbalances in many economical and social domains. These imbalances need to be removed and re-addressed for the best. But
those who have never seen anything, they are rather aiming at devastating the homeland, its stability and security".

He added saying" day dreams are lethal and getting the human disappointed, we have seen nowadays the immature politics which is
harmful to the country as it lives upon illusions not in the reality and it seeks to drag usinto the past and the conflicts. Our people don't care about whatever calamity, but unity and democracy were glorious progression that all Yemenis are bragging about. The one
who is seeking for constructing, he never aims to agitate the regional feud that is harmful not useful and it dismantles and never
unites."

He kept on saying "some political coalitions which aren't based on the subjective response and interaction with the economical and
social issues, they can't bring about security and stability as well as development and progression. This political coalition is based on the political conflicts."

The candidate went on saying" the fact is that, the one who realizes tha the won't win and suspects the results pre-conditionally and he
puts fanciful dreams that he is going to solve the society's social, economical and political problems, he is aware that he would not be
held accountable for this program, as he simply won't success. If he has 20 per cent trust of success, he'll consider his speech very
carefully and make it more balanced. I do frankly say that we don't want to take the advantage of election campaign to lead the people astray, this is a destructive manner and something has nothing to do with democracy.

He added saying "No candidate around the world makes everything permissible and gives peoples everything and solves everything, that
is a fantasy, and sort of day dreams and a kind of dotage that is harmful to the society, we want to deal subjectively with the realities, we want a strong andbrave president for Yemen, but we don't want him to be a weak or a paralyzed one unable to take the decision or to comprehend the peoples problems."

Abdu Saeed continued to say" we had tried these people during the transitional period, what did they offer? .. They offered subversiveness, restricted liberties and freezing the development, moreover they made everybody fearful. The one who didn't spread freedom and
human rights in the past,he can't do that in the future. We don't want to exploit peoples' suffering, their ordeal is true, but it
can't be solved by slogans and rhetoric words,it is rather will be eased and overcome by work and production".

The candidate concluded his electioneering saying "you are free, free society is the essence, for prosperous ruling, let our choice be free. We want a president who won't be subordinate to anyone, we want a president who won't be run be a remote control..

"We want a president who has a free and courageous will, able to say no for the inward and outward, no for issues that are harmful to
Yemen's interests. We don't want a puppet president" he concluded.
