SANA'A, Dec.1(Saba)- The conference "Women's Rights in the Arab World: From Words to Deeds", will start Saturday, December 3, under the auspices
of president Ali Abdullah Saleh.
Minister of human rights Amat al-Alim al-Soswa, head of the preparatory committee for the conference, said that more than 300 women individuals, ministers, parliamentarians, leaders of regional and international civil
society organizations and academic associations will take part in the conference.
She said the conference came to translate the Sana'a Declaration on Democracies and Human Rights in 2004 and to enhance relevant continuous communication among representatives form the Arab region and Europe.
Al-Soswa said the conference would tackle three fronts. The front of judiciary and law, the front of development and the role of Arab League to support women in development and economy and the front of women humanitarian security in the Arab world and the women's political rights between reality and practice.
She said the conference would discuss the women participation in public life areas and obstacles against them.
It will also support understanding between Arab countries and European Union countries in order to find deeply-rooted common work to boost women's
legal rights, said al-Soswa.
She expected that the conference might have come out with a declaration on "Arab women rights" that enable them to participate in decision-making
posts.
