6.4-magnitude earthquake hits the area off southern Japan
[10/يناير/2019] SANAA, Jan. 10 (Saba) - The US Geological Survey announced that a 6.4-magnitude earthquake hit the area off southern Japan on Tuesday.
According to the media, there were no immediate reports of damage or casualties.
The quake occurred at a depth of 39 km and centered 116 km south-east of Kagoshima.
Earthquakes are common in Japan, one of the world's most seismically active regions.
Japan's earthquakes account for about 20 per cent of the world's earthquakes, which have a magnitude of 6 or more.
