Sheikh Khalifa Hospital opened in Socotra [07/ديسمبر/2012] SOCOTRA, Dec. 07 (Saba)- Hadhramout Governor Khalid Saeed Al Deeni and UAE ambassador to Yemen Abdullah Matar Al Mazroui have opened the Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Hospital in the Socotra Island.
The Hospital built with funding from Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Humanitarian Foundation will be expanded further as the next two phases will be completed within one year.
Al Mazrouei said that the initial idea for the construction of the hospital began about three years ago to establish an operations room and then evolved into an integrated hospital with a variety of advanced medical equipment.
He pointed out that the hospital has two operation theaters, an intensive care room and departments of gynecology and obstetrics, pediatrics and emergency care, all with sophisticated medical equipments.
The opening ceremony was attended by a number of senior state officials, Arab ambassadors in Yemen and a gathering of the inhabitants in the island.
