U.S. assures continuation of economic ,political support for Yemen [18/يونيو/2012] SANA'A, June 18 (SABA)- Commander of U.S. CENTCOM, General James Mattis, confirmed on Monday the continuation of U.S. economic and political support for implementing the Gulf initiative and the Security Council's resolution No.2014 in Yemen.
In his meeting here with President Abdo Rabbo Mansour Hadi, General Mattis alluded to the importance of the international community cooperation to take out Yemen of the difficult and complex conditions.
At the meeting, President Hadi reviewed with the U.S. military delegation a number of developments at the Yemeni arena, noting that the Gulf initiative came at a moment Yemen was most in need to get out of its crisis.
President dealt with steps that have been taken at the level of translation of the political settlement in Yemen, pointing out that the low economy problem and the unemployment are at the forefront of concerns experienced by Yemen.
In this regard, Hadi affirmed that Al-Qaeda terrorist organization has found in the unemployment and poverty a fertile ground for the recruitment of young people, and called for a rapid cooperation with Yemen to get out of these troubles .
President expressed his deep grief at the terrorist incident and the criminal act that led to the killing of the South Military Region Commander Maj. Gen. Salem Qatan, stressing that the war against al-Qaeda will gain more strength.
For his part, head of the U.S. military delegation expressed his sincere condolences on the martyrdom of the hero, Maj. Gen. Salem Qatan, conveying greetings of U.S. administration to President Hadi.
