In 1st day, private sector donates YR97 mln to Abyan displaced [16/يونيو/2012]
SANA'A, June 16 (Saba) - A number of Yemeni businessmen donated on Saturday over YR97 million to help in supporting the displaced people of Abyan province.
This came in the meeting gathered Prime Minister Mohammed Salem Basindwa with the General Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry, a number of heads and members of commerce chambers in the capital and other provinces, businessmen and investors
The meeting, which was devoted to mobilize aid for the humanitarian efforts to help Abyan displaced people, approved forming a committee from the private sector to collect the donations and sent another one to the province to get acquainted with the needs of the displaced and required interventions.
The businessmen called on all the commercial and industrial private sector to react with the humanitarian campaign to the Abyan displaced, adding that an account will be opened for the donations.
"Supporting the Abyan displaced people is a national, religious and moral duty," they said, praising great victory the armed and security forces and the popular committees have made against the terrorist organization of al-Qaeda. The Premier voiced his full confidence that the national private sector would spare no efforts to sport the displaced people of Abyan.
"We depend on you to cooperate with your brothers in Abyan and to support us in this difficult to present urgent relief aid to them," Basindwa said.
He hailed the national attitude of the private sector, stressing that it will undertake the processes of collecting the donations and identifying the aspects of aid to be presented to the displaced.
