Ministry: Qaeda kidnapped, tortured, slew Mareb detective [01/ديسمبر/2009]
SANA'A, Dec. 01 (Saba) – A source at the Interior ministry has said that al-Qaeda was behind kidnapping and murdering a detective in Mareb province, 130 km from Sana'a.
Al-Qaeda members brought around Major Bassam Suleiman Torboush, head of Investigation at the Criminal Investigative Department in the province and seized him on Monday.
They took him to an unidentified location, tortured him and then slew him in a terrible way.
The heinous crime came in retaliation for the vigilance of police to hunt saboteurs and impose the rule of law, the ministry said in a statement.
Information have been collected on the slayers and the authorities will not rest until they were all arrested and brought to justice, the statement said, calling on the citizens in Mareb to cooperate with the authorities and refuse sheltering terrorists.
