SANA'A, Oct.19 (Saba) - An official military source has said that about 30 insurgents were killed and others injured as they were trying to infiltrate to army posts in Razih region Saturday last night, the state-run al-Motamar.net has reported.

The source also said eight other insurgents have been killed as they were trying to infiltrate to farms nearby the main road of Saada province and farms nearby al-Kamp and al-Maqash regions.

The source added that a military unit destroyed five cars carrying ammunitions and weapons belonging to the rebels in Mahdha, al-Sahlah, al-Qafl and north of al-Khyam areas.

Later, security forces continued their progress against the rebels, clearing mines planted by rebels in the region as well as in the farms.

Several quantities of munitions and explosives have been captured by the troops in this area.

Since the fighting erupted in 2004, thousands of people, soldiers and insurgents have been killed in Saada province and Harf Sufian in Amran province, after the rebel group was founded by rebel leader Hussein al-Houthi.

Hussein, the eldest brother of the current group leader Abdul-Malik, was killed by the army in September 2004.

The Yemeni government accuses the al-Houthi group of trying to re-install the rule of imams, which was toppled by a republican revolution in northern Yemen in 1962.
